There will be a One Day Mental Health Module conducted in Sydney on Saturday the 11th of December 2010 at the Institute of Psychiatry from 8.15 am until 5.30 pm.

The Module will revise and consolidate CBT and mental health skills training and Focussed Psychological Strategies. These skills are required for general practitioners, psychologists, social workers and occupational therapists for them to be registered to use the Medicare mental health item numbers.

The training will COUNT TOWARDS the 104 training hours for the DIPLOMA of CLINICAL HYPNOSIS. The Advanced Clinical Course for 2010 is accredited by the RACGP for GPs for 6 ALMs. Each ALM is worth 40 CPD points but the course did not have mental health accreditation in time for the courses and so this module has been arranged to meet that need. Any graduate from the 2010 Advanced Courses can attend this module.

The training will be held in Melbourne and Brisbane in early 2011 for graduates who find it easier to attend those venues. The GPMHSC have allowed doctors until the end of March 2011 to complete their 2008-2010 training requirements.

Doctors will need to attend this module or have done another mental health module in the 2008-2010 triennium to continue their Medicare registration requirements.

Approved by the RACGP for 1 Active Leaning Module worth 40 CPD points. Also approved for FPS Continuing Professional Development for GPs to continue their registarion with Medicare to use the FPS level 2 item numbers with patients.

Please contact the CMH for an application form on phone 02 9688 2300 or fax 02 9688 2800.
