Clinical Hypnosis CBT FPS Courses for Registered Health Professionals and Social Workers 2024
The COLLEGE of MEDICAL HYPNOSIS (CMH) conducts hypnotherapy training courses in Australia which are all based upon Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and the Focussed Psychological Strategies (FPS). The 2024 TIMETABLE is available on this site.
See the LATEST NEWS for more information regarding COURSES and the latest GPMHSC APPROVAL.
THIS TRAINING IS PRACTICAL AND COST EFFECTIVE.
All training contains the Focussed Psychological Strategies (FPS) as required for medical practitioners, psychologists, occupational therapists and registered social workers for registration with Medicare for mental health item utilisation. The Clinical Course has an FPS ST related 4 module component (of the 6 modules) which is been re-approved by the GPMHSC for GPs to apply to Medicare for FPS registration to use the MEDICARE mental health FPS related item numbers eg 2721, 2723, 2725, 2727, 2729 and 2731 plus the telephone and telehealth items.

The Clinical course has been re-approved by the RACGP for Aproved Activity status for 5 day modules and also by the GPMHSC for MH-CPD and FPS-CPD (modules 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6).
Training courses in Clinical Hypnosis - Hypnotherapy and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and the Focussed Psychological Strategies are being conducted FACE TO FACE WITH RESTRICTED NUMBERS in NSW in Sydney in 2024. They have been conducted in all states of Australia in the past as they will hopefully be conducted in other states again in the future.
We train nationally registered health professionals and social workers who are members of the AASW and Accredited Practising Dieticians who are full members of Dieticians Australia to use hypnotherapy as a set of adjunctive clinical skills. The CMH does not train non-health professionals to practise as hypnotherapists independently from their established health practitioner role, eg the nurse trained in hypnotherapy working in private practice continues to practise as a nurse, with the additional skills to also offer and to practise hypnotherapy.
These courses are amongst the highest nationally professionally accredited courses for mental health training in Australia for Continuing Professional Development (PD or CPD or PDP) and Continuing Education (CE) for eligible health professionals registered by the Austalian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and social workers registered with the AASW, and have been so for more than 20 years plus accredited practising dieticians registered as full members of Dieticians Australia. Training is conducted for registered health professionals and social workers and accredited practising dieticians by registered health professionals and has been accredited by multiple professional health colleges and societies.
Medical practitioners including general practitioners and specialists, psychologists including clinical psychologists, nurses, midwives, dentists, physiotherapists, osteopaths, chiropractors, social workers and occupational therapists and accredited practising dieticians are amongst eligible participants.
Please see the 'Latest News' section of this website for more details for GPs about applying for and using the Medicare mental health item numbers. Also check MBS online for the telehealth and telephone mental health related Medicare item numbers.
THE 2024 TIMETABLE is available in the timetable section and at 'Latest News' on 21.10.23.
